Growth / Nuture

Some small groups are for a specific number of weeks, but those running year round are as follows:

Monday morning Bible study is an on going group, every Monday; we seldom cancel. We read only the Bible. It is easy to drop in and join in because we read the scriptures aloud together as we discuss them. We meet at Barbara VanSciver’s or Chris and Tom Henderson’s. So call Barbara or Chris and Tom to see where we will be. Everyone is welcome! Barbara – 855-0281, Chris and Tom – 856-7529.

Meet third Sunday morning in the Margaret Henderson Room at 11:00 a.m. We focus on mission and outreach opportunities in the community, as well as spiritual growth for women of all ages. For information, contact Chris LeCates or Nora Serman.

Meet second Sunday morning in the Margaret Henderson Room at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast, devotions, and fellowship. We focus on mission and outreach. We also focus on spiritual growth for men of all ages. For more information, contact Ray Hopkins.

Casual Choir meets Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.  We have several opportunities to use musical skills to draw others to Christ and to worship and praise our Lord and Savior: Casual choir, Chancel choir, Handbell choir, Praise Team, and Guitar Club. Times and days change according to seasons and schedules, so check the weekly bulletin on this website or in church. For general information, contact the Music Director Leanne Angleton.

Meet Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Prayer requests are prayed over for individuals, the church, the community, and larger corporate and social needs. Come and spend time in the quiet with God for yourself, and/or for others. One can also come during this time to be prayed for. For information, contact Alma Roach, Chris Henderson or Shirley McDougall.

Meet Wednesdays at 1 p.m. to sew, quilt, and make items from fabric such as prayer quilts, holiday items, worship adornments, and other items as needed to help meet a need. Any skill level is welcome. The group always concludes with a time of prayer for each other and for requests that are brought up. For information, contact Mimi Walls or Chris Henderson.

THE GORDY CLASS (Downstairs in Margarett Henderson Room)
The Gordy Sunday School class focuses on discussion, using current events and different topics. Each month a member of the class will lead.
Topics include learning how to deal with real life, being a Christian, and what that means in daily life situations. While learning about God we respectfully share points of view while enjoying a casual atmosphere and a sense of humor.

PHILADELPHIA CLASS (Downstairs in Choir room near Annex)
Named for the church in book of Revelation, the church of Philadelphia was weak in some respects, yet they had remained faithful in the face of trial. Because of this, the Lord promises them an “open door” of blessing. This class looks to the Bible for clarity, direction and application in order to engage all members to be faithful in their Christian walk. The class is currently reorganizing and all former members, and those interested, are encouraged to come be a part of the discussion.

CONFIRMATION/YOUTH GROUP (Upstairs in the Jr. room)
The Confirmation/Youth Class is for students in junior/senior high, or ages 12 and up. The class is designed to engage teens in lessons and discussions that allow them to personalize their faith. As older teens are moving towards college and the workforce, it is critical that they are able to take ownership of and articulate their beliefs, and give opportunity to explore membership in the church. This class also gives youth the opportunity to share what is going on in their lives so the group is able to pray for and support one another regularly.
